Ok I got clones. Now what?
Here is a streamlined process to ensure your new clones settle in successfully without shock.
Inspect Immediately
Upon arrival, check that the stem is sturdy and the root system looks healthy and white.
Transplant
Dig a hole in your medium and place the clone inside. Ensure the top of the starter cube is level with the soil surface. Gently pack the medium around the roots to eliminate air pockets.
Water In
Water the plant immediately to settle the medium and ensure the root zone is moist.
Manage Lighting
Start with gentle, indirect light (such as a T5 bulb) on a 24-hour cycle. To prevent light shock, gradually increase intensity over 1–2 weeks.
Control Humidity
Young clones require high humidity (~80% RH). Use a humidity dome to create a stable, moist environment.
Delay Feeding
Avoid heavy nutrients right away. Focus on root development first, then introduce high-nitrogen food once the plant is visibly established.
Outdoor Timing
For outdoor grows in New York, wait until May or June when the weather is consistently warm. Ensure the last frost has passed to avoid shocking your plants.

New York Cannabis Law & Compliance
Under New York law, adults 21 years and older may cultivate cannabis at home for personal use. Each adult may grow up to three (3) mature and three (3) immature plants, with a maximum of six (6) mature and six (6) immature plants per private residence. Plants and harvested cannabis must be stored within the cultivator’s private residence and secured so they are not accessible to anyone under 21.
Adults may possess up to five pounds of cannabis at home, provided it is stored securely and out of reach of minors. Local municipalities may enact reasonable regulations on personal cultivation but cannot prohibit it outright. When growing outdoors, ensure your plants are kept private and follow any local ordinances and homeowner association rules.
Licensed dispensaries in New York may sell clones, seedlings and immature plants to home growers.
