Strain Overview
Carbon Fiber is one of those strains that lets you know you’re about to have a good time as soon as you open the jar. Bred by Cannarado Genetics, this one gets purple and will be caked in trich’s by the time it’s ready to be chopped. I am usually not a fan of modern hybrids when I am looking for something heavy, but there is always an exception and Carbon Fiber is one of them. If you’re looking for a strain with next level bag appeal and a noticeably different buzz, Carbon Fiber will not disappoint. Growers love it because it makes them look good. Smokers love it because the buzz is noticeably different than most modern strains.

Lineage & History
Carbon Fiber was made by Cannarado Genetics out of Colorado. Same guy who made Sundae Driver, Grape Pie and Wedding Pie. The cross is Grapes and Cream x Biscotti. It’s one of those strains that makes my head spin just trying to describe the smell. You will get fuel up front, with earthy undertones and hints of sweet grapes, and a slight peppery kick. The buzz is a true hybrid mix of indica and sativa qualities and the flavor is so good you will want to smoke more even tho you don’t need to.
If you have ever ran anything from Cannarado’s huge catalog, you already know he is in his own lane and doesn’t care about what’s cool. He just breeds with what he likes and that’s why he is still putting out new strains 30 years later.
Flavor & Aroma
The smell on this one is what gets you first. Open the jar and it’s straight fuel, but the grapes and cream come through right behind it and pull you back in for another hit. By the time you’ve broken some up the room smells like you have been smoking for an hour. There is a peppery edge to it too, kind of like fresh ground pepper sitting on top of the gas, which is what you would expect from a strain with this much caryophyllene in it.
The flavor tracks the smell pretty close. Fuel and pepper on the inhale, then the grape and cream rolls in on the exhale and just sits on your tongue. I have caught myself rolling another one just because I wanted to taste it again, not because I needed more buzz. If you smoke it in a clean glass piece (and corner the bowl!) you will get the cleanest version of those grape notes. Joints lean it more toward the gas side.
Effects: Why the THC Number Lies
Carbon Fiber is a great example of why “high-THC” isn’t always the best choice. The lab will tell you it tests around 25%, which is solid but not crazy by today’s standards. Plenty of strains test in the low 30s and don’t hit half as hard. What makes Carbon Fiber different is the rich mix of terpenes. Caryophyllene, limonene, and linalool all working together, and that combination plays into the strong buzz way more than the raw THC number does. This is the entourage effect doing real work, and you can feel it the moment you exhale.
The buzz itself is a true hybrid mix. You get the cerebral lift you’d expect from a hybrid leaning sativa, but it settles into a body relaxation that sits with you for a while. It is not a knockout. You can still hold a conversation, still get something done, but you are going to be slower and happier doing it. Good evening smoke if you don’t want to be locked to the couch.
If you’ve been chasing high-THC numbers and wondering why some of those 32% bag-appeal strains leave you feeling nothing, give Carbon Fiber a run. It will rewire how you shop.
Growing Carbon Fiber
Carbon Fiber grows like most Cannarado hybrids. Moderate stretch in early flower, responsive to training, and not finicky as long as you don’t overfeed. Flower time runs about 9 weeks indoor. The purple coloration shows up in the last 2 weeks of flower, especially when night temps drop into the mid 60s. If you want the color to pop, dial the lights-off temps down for that final stretch.
She likes a SCROG or a good topping at 4-5 nodes for an even canopy. Defoliate at flip and again around week 3 of flower. The buds get dense and you don’t want trapped moisture late in flower. Heavy resin production also means she’s a magnet for spider mites if your IPM is weak.
For harvest, watch the trichomes. Most growers chop when they’re mostly cloudy with about 10-15% amber. Pull her too early and you lose the body side. Let her go too long and the cerebral lift gets buried under sedation.
This strain is also a strong performer for hash and rosin. The trichome heads stack high and the resin is oily, which is what you want for solventless extracts.
Mike: the grow section above is generic-but-accurate based on Cannarado lineage tendencies. If you have specific numbers from your own runs (actual yield, your typical chop day, anything weird that happened), drop them in and I’ll swap.

If You Like Carbon Fiber, Try
- Grapes and Cream ($69): Carbon Fiber’s seed parent. Same Cannarado lineage, similar purple expression, but the terp profile leans more cream and less gas.
- Sundae Driver ($69): another Cannarado classic, sweeter and more indica-leaning than Carbon Fiber.
- Grape Pie ($249, pre-order): the Grape side of the family. Heavier on the candy notes, currently in pre-order status.
- Wedding Pie ($69): Cannarado’s take on the Wedding Cake lineage. Dense, dessert-forward, and a strong commercial producer.
- Biscotti ($69): Carbon Fiber’s other parent. The Connected Cannabis cut. Heavier indica lean, more gas, less grape.
FAQ
Is Carbon Fiber indica or sativa? True hybrid. You get a real mix of indica and sativa qualities, which is why the buzz feels different from most modern hybrids that lean hard one way.
How strong is Carbon Fiber? It tests around 25% THC, but that number doesn’t tell the whole story. The terpene profile (caryophyllene, limonene, linalool) makes the buzz hit harder than the raw THC suggests. Don’t sleep on it because the lab number isn’t a 30+.
Who bred Carbon Fiber? Cannarado Genetics out of Colorado. Same guy who made Sundae Driver, Grape Pie, and Wedding Pie. He has been breeding for 30 years.
What does Carbon Fiber taste like? Fuel and pepper on the inhale, then sweet grapes and cream on the exhale. The flavor lasts and lasts, and you’ll want to keep smoking just for the taste.
How long does Carbon Fiber take to flower? About 9 weeks indoor. Some phenos can go a week longer if you want max color and trichome development.
How much do Carbon Fiber clones cost? $69 per clone, with free 2-day shipping included to all 50 states.
