Ice Cream Man (clone)

$69.00

Ice Cream Man is what happens when a breeder takes one of the most popular gas hybrids on the market and crosses it with a fruit-forward stud most growers had never heard of. Compound Genetics paired Jet Fuel Gelato with a Legend Orange Apricot F2 male, and the cross landed somewhere between cold-aisle creamery and back-alley fuel station. Apricot, vanilla, lemon-lime, and a soft kerosene pull underneath, all in the same flower.

Strain Overview

Ice Cream Man is what happens when a breeder takes one of the most popular gas hybrids on the market and crosses it with a fruit-forward stud most growers had never heard of. She earned her name the right way. Not because she tastes like ice cream in a generic dessert sense, but because she pulls a specific orange-cream profile that hits the palate like a Creamsicle wrapped in pink-grapefruit zest. The frost is heavy, the structure is dense, and the high is a clear daytime hybrid that holds focus and settles the body without taking either too far. She has become a clone-circuit favorite for boutique grows and small-batch processors who want something that smells expensive in the jar.

For a grower, she runs Compound-typical: vigorous, photogenic, responsive to a screen, generous to a careful feed schedule. For a smoker, she is the orange-cream you order on purpose.

Lineage & History: The Cream That Came Out of a Gas Cross

Compound Genetics, run out of Northern California by Chris Lynch, has been one of the most consistent hit-makers of the modern era. Jet Fuel Gelato is one of his anchor mothers, the Gelato 45 x (Jet Fuel G6 x High Octane) cross that pushed gas-and-dessert into the mainstream. Ice Cream Man pulls Jet Fuel Gelato as the female and crosses her with Legend Orange Apricot F2, a male selected for the citrus-stone-fruit terpene character.

The combination is exactly what you would hope for. Jet Fuel Gelato gives the structure, the trichome density, the gas spine, and the Cookies-family backbone. Legend Orange Apricot brings tangy citrus, ripe stone fruit, and a brightness that pulls the gas profile forward without burying it. Most batches land in the 22 to 28 percent THC range with terpene loads commonly above 2 percent. She has become a rotation strain in Compound-friendly grows and a regular feature on premium-shelf menus from California to the East Coast.

The character is not just gimmick. She delivers a recognizable orange-cream profile that few other strains hit cleanly, which is what keeps her in rotation when trendier names come and go.

Flavor & Aroma

Crack a jar and the apricot leads. Sweet stone fruit, vanilla cream, a citrus-zest top note, and a soft kerosene pull underneath that gives the dessert profile a base layer. There is a faint pine and fresh-herb note in some phenos, the inheritance from the Jet Fuel side, but the dominant impression is creamy citrus orange wrapped in a Cookies-family cookie spine.

On the inhale she opens with bright orange and a soft cream. Mid-palate brings vanilla, apricot, and a touch of lemon zest. The exhale finishes long, with a peppery caryophyllene bite and a sweet citrus-cream fade that stays on the tongue for a minute or more. Smoke is on the smoother side for a strain in the high 20s, the kind of smoothness that makes the second bowl land harder than expected.

She presses well. Rosin off her holds the orange-cream front cleanly, and live-resin extracts pull the apricot and citrus aromatics forward. Vape carts capture her profile reasonably well, though the cured flower is where the specific orange-cream identity comes through clearest.

Effects & What to Expect

Onset is moderate. Within five to ten minutes the cerebral lift kicks in, mood-bright, alert, focused, with a soft euphoric edge that pulls attention forward without becoming jittery. The first 30 minutes have a clear hybrid sociability. Conversation runs easy, music sounds richer, and the headspace settles into a creative-and-productive zone that suits late-morning and early-afternoon sessions well.

The body component layers in around the half-hour mark. Shoulders relax, jaw softens, and a comfortable warmth spreads through the upper body. She does not knock you flat, but she does pull the tension out of a stressful day. The second hour is the best part for most users, lifted but settled, alert but loose.

Total run time is two to two and a half hours. New users should respect the THC number, the smooth orange-cream front masks how much weight she is actually carrying. Late afternoon, weekend afternoon, social-creative sessions are her natural lane.

Growing Ice Cream Man

She is intermediate. Compound-stable, photogenic, and responsive to standard Cookies-family feed and training. If you have run Jet Fuel Gelato or any modern Gelato cross, she will feel familiar.

Stretch in early flower runs about 1.5x to 1.8x. Top her at the fourth node, install a screen at the flip, and tuck for the first two to three weeks to fill out the canopy. Branching is decent but she rewards a screen, especially under high-output lighting. A 4×4 with six plants in 3-gallon pots is a comfortable density. Indoor flowering finishes 56 to 63 days. Outdoor harvest comes down in early to mid-October. Yields are medium, roughly 1.2 to 1.5 oz per square foot indoors, with outdoor plants in good sun pulling 12 to 16 oz per plant.

Feed her at standard intensity. She handles a normal Cookies-family schedule well, around 850 to 1000 ppm in peak flower, with calcium-magnesium support during stretch. Watch nitrogen in the back half, like most Cookies crosses she will tip-burn if you push her late. Humidity management is the bigger concern. Drop RH to 45 percent for the final three weeks and run aggressive airflow under the canopy.

Cool finish brings her best face forward. Drop nighttime temps to 64 to 68 degrees in the last two weeks, the trichome heads mature evenly and the orange-cream profile sharpens noticeably in the cure. Cure for at least 14 days in glass at 58 to 62 percent RH, burping daily through the first week. The stone-fruit and citrus aromatics develop slowly, a rushed cure flattens her into a generic gas-dessert and you lose the part that makes her distinct.

Pheno expression is reasonably uniform across the cut. Most phenos pull the orange-apricot character forward with strong Jet Fuel Gelato structural traits. A smaller subset lean harder into the gas side, with the apricot reading more as a back-of-palate accent. Both are valid expressions of the cross, and most growers find a keeper after two runs. For menus, the pheno that pulls the apricot loudest is usually the one that moves fastest off the shelf.

Defoliation helps her finish. Pull the lower third of the canopy at week 3 of flower and clean up any popcorn larf that has not climbed to the screen by week 5. The increased airflow under the dense top canopy is the cheapest insurance you can buy against botrytis in the back half. Do not over-strip, leave the upper canopy intact and let her stack her colas without losing her fan leaves up top.
