Why We Started Learning AI SEO at Get Seeds Right Here

Running a cannabis clone company teaches you a lot of things you never expected to learn.

Plant health, genetics, shipping live plants across the country, customer service, inventory, compliance. All of that comes with the territory.

SEO probably doesn’t.

And taking an AI SEO course definitely wasn’t something I expected to be spending my time on when we started Get Seeds Right Here.

But over the last few years, getting good at search has become a surprisingly important part of running the business.

You can have clean genetics, PCR-test every mother for HLVd, guarantee live arrivals, and stock strains growers actually want. None of that helps commercially if the people searching for those things never find you.

That was what originally pushed me into SEO.

Now search is changing again.

From Google Search to AI Search

For years, the basic SEO game was pretty straightforward.

Someone searched Google for something like:

  • where to buy cannabis clones

  • cannabis clones shipped to your door

  • HLVd tested clones

  • best cannabis clone company

  • clones near me

You built a useful page for that search, got it indexed, earned some authority, and tried to move it toward the top of Google.

That still matters.

But growers aren’t only using traditional Google results anymore.

They’re asking ChatGPT which clone companies are reputable.

They’re seeing answers generated by Google AI Overviews.

They’re using tools powered by large language models to research products, strains, companies, and recommendations.

That changes the job.

It isn’t enough for your website to simply exist or even rank.

AI systems need to understand who you are, what you sell, why you’re relevant, and what information from your site is reliable enough to use when answering a question.

That was the rabbit hole that eventually led me to start studying AI SEO properly.

What Is an AI SEO Course?

An AI SEO course teaches you how to improve visibility not only in traditional Google search, but also across AI-powered search and answer engines.

That includes understanding how platforms such as ChatGPT, Google AI Overviews, Gemini, and other AI search systems discover information, interpret brands, retrieve passages, and decide which sources to mention or cite.

You will sometimes see this called:

  • AI SEO

  • Generative Engine Optimization, or GEO

  • Answer Engine Optimization, or AEO

  • LLM optimization

  • AI search optimization

The terminology varies.

The basic objective is much simpler.

You want your company, website, and information to be understood well enough that search engines and AI systems can confidently surface you when someone asks a relevant question.

For a business like ours, that might mean somebody asking:

Where can I buy clean cannabis clones online?

Or:

Which cannabis clone companies test for HLVd?

Or:

Where can I order verified cannabis genetics?

If an AI system is increasingly answering those questions directly, being part of the answer becomes commercially important.

Why I Started Looking for an AI SEO Course

I had already spent years learning traditional SEO.

I learned how important it was to understand what growers actually search for, build pages around real questions, structure a website properly, earn links, and give Google enough information to understand what the business does.

But AI search introduced a second question.

It wasn’t just:

How do we rank?

It became:

How do we become one of the sources AI systems use when answering the question?

That’s what eventually got me looking seriously at AI SEO Course resources instead of treating AI search as another marketing buzzword.

It also led me into AI SEO Rainmakers, where I’ve been learning more about the practical side of AI search visibility, GEO, entity optimization, citations, links, content, and how traditional SEO connects with these newer search surfaces.

What interested me most was that a lot of it wasn’t completely separate from SEO.

It was an extension of it.

AI SEO Isn’t Just Writing Content With ChatGPT

This is probably the biggest misconception around AI SEO.

Using ChatGPT to write a blog post does not mean you’re doing AI SEO.

AI has actually made generic content easier to produce than ever.

Anybody can generate a 2,000-word article about cannabis clones in seconds.

That makes generic information less valuable, not more valuable.

The useful part is figuring out how search engines and AI systems find, understand, trust, retrieve, and reuse information.

For Get Seeds Right Here, that means publishing specific information that growers actually need.

What does HLVd testing mean?

Why does shipping speed matter with a live clone?

How should a clone look when it arrives?

What’s the difference between a verified breeder cut and a random plant carrying the same strain name?

How do we test mother plants?

What happens if a clone arrives damaged?

Those are real questions.

They’re also exactly the kind of questions search engines and AI assistants need good sources to answer.

What a Good AI SEO Course Should Actually Teach

After digging into this stuff, I don’t think an AI SEO course should just be a collection of prompts.

Prompts are useful.

They’re not a strategy.

A useful course should teach how traditional search, AI search, websites, entities, citations, links, and third-party sources work together.

Traditional SEO Still Matters

AI search hasn’t made Google rankings irrelevant.

Your website still needs to be crawlable.

Pages still need to be indexed.

Content still needs to match search intent.

Links still matter.

Site structure still matters.

Brand authority still matters.

The foundations didn’t disappear because ChatGPT became popular.

AI Systems Need Clear Information

Machines don’t benefit from vague marketing copy.

Neither do customers.

If our mother plants are PCR tested for HLVd, we should say exactly that.

If clones ship via UPS Next Day Air, we should say that.

If there’s a live arrival guarantee, we should explain how it works.

Clear, factual statements make the page easier for a grower to understand and easier for a machine to retrieve.

Entity and Brand Signals Matter

A website isn’t just a collection of keywords.

There is a company behind it.

There are people behind the company.

There are products, services, locations, policies, reviews, mentions, and relationships with other entities.

The clearer that picture becomes across your own site and the rest of the web, the easier it becomes for search systems to understand what your company actually is.

Third-Party Mentions Matter

One thing I’ve become increasingly interested in through AI SEO Rainmakers is what happens away from your own website.

Search engines and AI platforms have access to an enormous amount of information.

Your own website saying you’re great is one signal.

Other independent websites discussing the company, linking to it, reviewing it, or confirming specific facts creates a much stronger picture.

That isn’t new to SEO.

But AI search makes it even more obvious why those outside references matter.

The Funny Thing About AI SEO in the Cannabis Industry

Cannabis makes all of this more interesting.

Advertising options are limited.

Social accounts disappear.

Platforms change their policies.

Payment processors can be unpredictable.

Organic search has always been valuable because a strong ranking can’t simply be switched off because an advertising platform changes its mind about cannabis.

AI search adds another discovery channel.

Imagine somebody asks ChatGPT:

What are the best places to buy cannabis clones online?

That user might never scroll through ten traditional search results.

The AI could summarize the market, mention several companies, explain the differences, and send the user directly to the source that looks most relevant.

If that behavior keeps growing, being absent from AI answers could eventually become just as painful as being buried on page three of Google.

What We’ve Learned by Actually Applying It

I’m not pretending Get Seeds Right Here suddenly became an AI research laboratory.

We’re still a cannabis genetics company.

Plants come first.

But studying SEO and AI SEO has changed the way I think about publishing information online.

Say Exactly What You Do

Vague marketing copy doesn’t help anybody.

Specific information does.

If something can be explained precisely, explain it precisely.

Prove Things Instead of Claiming Them

Every cannabis website can claim it sells “premium genetics.”

That doesn’t tell the customer much.

Lab results, real photographs, detailed policies, strain information, customer feedback, and clear explanations are more useful.

They also create information that search engines and AI systems can actually work with.

Build a Real Brand

There’s a huge difference between building pages and building a business people actively search for.

We want growers searching for Get Seeds Right Here.

We want people talking about us elsewhere.

We want customers returning because their first order went well.

We want our company name associated with cannabis clones, verified genetics, HLVd testing, and reliable shipping.

SEO gets stronger when there’s a real business underneath it.

AI SEO appears to be moving in the same direction.

Answer the Question Properly

A lot of SEO content exists because somebody wanted to rank for a keyword.

You can normally tell.

The article takes 900 words to answer something that required three sentences.

We’ve tried to go the opposite direction.

If growers repeatedly ask us a question, that’s probably something we should explain properly on the website.

Not because an SEO tool says we need another blog post.

Because the question exists.

Is an AI SEO Course Worth Taking?

For me, the value wasn’t learning another acronym.

It was understanding where search appears to be heading.

Traditional SEO is still hugely important.

But discovery is spreading across more platforms.

Someone might find your business through Google.

Someone else might ask ChatGPT.

Another person might see a Google AI Overview.

Another might discover you through Reddit, YouTube, a comparison article, or some other website an AI system uses as a source.

Learning AI SEO helped connect those dots.

That’s why I’ve been spending time studying AI SEO Rainmakers and experimenting with the ideas on real businesses rather than treating AI search as something we’ll worry about in five years.

Does AI SEO Change How We Grow Clones?

Nope.

Good SEO can’t rescue bad genetics.

An AI SEO course isn’t going to make an unhealthy plant healthy.

ChatGPT isn’t going to save a clone that sat in a hot shipping box for five days.

The fundamentals of our business are still the same.

Clean mother stock.

Verified genetics.

Healthy rooted clones.

Fast shipping.

Standing behind the plants when something goes wrong.

Marketing should amplify a good operation, not disguise a bad one.

That’s probably the biggest SEO lesson I’ve learned so far.

Build something worth finding first.

Then make damn sure people can find it.

Now back to the plants.
